Welcome to the Kids Kung Fu
Lil' Tigers
Character training with positive motivational techniques plus long and short term goal-setting techniques. This develops their confidence, respect to parents and others, discipline with themselves and life. Self-defense is learned almost by osmosis.
So why should anyone chose to take their child or children to kung fu? Why not gymnastics or soccer? Let us go back to the roots of kung fu and see why it is so important. For 1,500 years kung fu has been practiced by the Asian people not only for it’s self defense aspects, but for many other reasons as well. There are 4 categories that are the foundation of kung fu training. They will explain about kung fu and it’s longevity.
Our students achieve life-changing positive results because we focus on
the traditional inner teachings of martial arts—the development of a
strong mind, body and spirit.
In keeping with the 1500-year-old traditions of Chinese Kung Fu
the same style that Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan made famous -

• Better manners
• Self-discipline
• Goal-setting skills
• Time-management skills
• Leadership skills
• Study skills
• Improved behavior
• Concentration and focus
• More respect
• Reduced Stress and Anxiety

    Health and Fitness:
Because of the health benefits, kung fu became popular not only among the priests who founded it 1500 years ago, but the common citizen as well. The exercises plus breathing techniques are the key to a long and healthy life. The stretching and exercises eventually combined with the local kung fu techniques to form what is now known as “Kung Fu”So what we are teaching the children is not just a bunch of stuff to keep them occupied, but more a healthy attitude that they will start to form a habit of doing. Hopefully not just during class, but for the rest of their lives.

     Self Defense
Seeing that Kung Fu has been around for over 1,500 years, you could say that it’s effectiveness is pretty good. Most martial arts that do not work, eventually fade away into history. Kung Fu has not been around for this long with out it having some type of value towards defending ones self or others.

     Moral Character
Morality has always been part of the kung fu foundation. Teaching a child the values that we have come to be missing in the 21st century is something has always been taught in kung fu. Tolerance, good manners, respecting others, love and kindness towards all mankind is something I try to instill in all of my students. Some of these qualities are missing in our society today. Most of the young people today could careless about others in distress.
Self confidence, discipline, self control and self esteem are among the other benefits when teaching morality. How often do we young people of today who lack these qualities? These issues were just as important 1,500 years ago as they are today.

     Mental
The Mental aspect of kung fu is taught right from the very beginning. Academics are very important and stressed thru out the life of a young martial artist.
In Retrospect
As we look at the reasons behind, why your child should take martial arts. You should know that the kung fu we teach has been an aid to raising young martial artists for thousands of years and has proven itself a worthy asset. Besides the health, self defense and morality , each child that comes through my class working along with the perents, will be molded and nurtured with all that I do. This seems so monumental, to be able to change the course of a child’s life. This has made me take teaching very seriously. Also every child is different, so I must treat each child with respect and honesty. Lastly, I try to love every child as if they were my own.

But at The Peaceful Little Tiger fighting skills are never regarded as more important than the cultivation and improvement of one's character. We teach our students never to use or display their skills unnecessarily.
As head instructor I'm often asked if I've ever had to use my martial arts skills.
I use my martial arts skills every day! No, not the fighting part.
I haven't had a physical confrontation outside of the ring since I took up martial arts over 30 years ago.
But each day I enjoy reduced stress, greater relaxation, improved physical fitness,
better tolerance and understanding, a more positive and generous spirit, and so much more.
And these skills are a direct result of my martial arts training.

Dear Working Parent,
You know how difficult it is to find a quality after-school program. Most programs are little more than glorified babysitting services with no structured plan to improve your child's health, self-esteem, behavior, confidence, focus, manners, leadership skills or self-discipline.
Worry no more—your child can enjoy a fun, safe, structured, top-quality Martial Arts program at The Peaceful Little Tiger!
At our After-School Program your child will get into great shape physically and learn valuable self-defense skills. But that's just the beginning.
Your child will also develop:
A native of Oklahoma, Art has always come naturally for Curtis and as a child he became interested in music. He soon mastered the guitar and began his journey into the world of being a band member. The knowledge gained catapulted his ability as a tattoo artist forward, 10 fold.
His interest spurred by his love of martial arts. This passion he had it since he was very young, but circumstance made it unapproachable for him, until by the destiny of live, he met the one who was going to teach him the arts of kung fu. He began learning martial arts many years ago and developed a special bond with his master Ricky Leturia. Subsequently, he had the opportunity to grow and learn as a martial artist and eventually ended up as a co-owner of Shaolin Studios as well as a senior instructor of Hung Gar Shaolin Kung Fu.
Teaching kids and adults Hung gar classes. He found it fascinated the fact that the Kung Fu enabled him to apply discipline to his life in general, becoming a distinguished professional and human being.
A native of New Hampshire, Derek Lawrence currently works as an adjunct professor of piano and piano literature at Oklahoma City University. Beginning piano study at age 4, by the age of 18 he was practicing 6-8 hours per day. Derek was originally drawn to Kung Fu to try to further discipline his body and mind and as a way to balance the physical effects of piano practice and performance. Having previously been involved in sports ranging from mountain-bike racing to rock-climbing, the lack of a larger purpose or goal beyond simply getting faster or stronger was frustrating. Kung Fu offered more than just a workout or means of measuring one's strength against another; it offered a way of physically and mentally disciplining one's life. Competition remained within oneself. Kung Fu as it seldom leads to a greater understanding of one's own skill and weakness. In Kung Fu Derek found out through the teachings of his kung fu master, that beating someone else is not the goal; rather knowing oneself; mastering oneself; and thereby transcending the need to prove anything to anyone else. Derek has improved highly in his training, his kung fu master has recently promoted him as a Si Dai , which means younger brother (assistant instructor), he teaches kids class and is doing very well, as helps to teach with the adults also in Hung Gar kung fu.
